The Process of Converting Rice Straw into Pulp-

The most basic step to recycle organic waste into paper based products is to convert organic waste such as rice straw, sugarcane bio bagasse, wood straw etc. into pulp.

Process of preparing straw pulp on small scale or manually (At small scale)-

Before making pulp, cleaning of soil etc. from waste straw is the primary step.

1. To convert straw waste into pulp, first, raw straw is cut into small pieces (1 to 1.5 cm) using a straw shredder machine.
2. After the straw is chopped into pieces, the straw waste is washed with clean water . This process can be done either manually or with the help of a washing machine.
3. After this comes the turn to prepare straw pulp or straw pulp. To make the pulp, a deep bowl like container is required. In which 60% clean water, 30% straw waste and 10-12% caustic soda (NaOH) is needed.
4. As per the quantity mentioned above, the ingredients are filled in a bowl and cooked on medium flame; it can take about 30 minutes to 60 minutes for the straw pulp to be prepared.

Process of preparing pulp on a large scale (At industrial scale)-

1. On a large scale or industrial scale, the process of making pulp from straw is done by manual, semi-automatic or fully-automatic machines.
2. After coming to the plant from the farm-barn, first of all the raw straw is cut into small pieces (01 to 1.5 cm) using the straw shredder machine.
3. After this, the straw is washed and filtered to clean the excess/unwanted dirt (soil and dust) etc.
4. After this, the cleaned straw is filled in the pulp making mill. This pulp making mill prepares the pulp/slurry of the straw. From which the desired product can be easily manufactured.

The pulp prepared by the pulp making mill is transported to the product making molding chamber with the help of a pulp sucker machine. This product making molding chamber has 03 stages; where the desired product is manufactured step by step.

1. In the first step, the mold of the desired product is prepared from the pulp. Here, a product dye bail press machine is used to prepare the mold.
2. In the second step, the prepared structure is heated, the excess water is distilled off and the structure is dried to make it solid and strong.
3. In the third step, after the desired product becomes solid and strong, it is prepared by cutting and finishing. It takes only 10 to 12 minutes to complete these three steps.

After this, the finished product can be packed and sent for sale in the market.
