Rice Straw Waste Recycle Business: If you are looking for such an innovative business startup that can help you in earning good profits while also protecting the environment and providing profit opportunity to farmers, then Rice Straw Waste Recycle Business is one of the best options.
Generally, straw waste is an organic waste for a normal farmer, which he wants to remove from his field as soon as possible and throw it out or destroy it. Currently, in some states of the country, farmers are also “burning” the straw to destroy the residue.
Burning of paddy straw, which is also known as straw waste, on one hand causes huge amount of smoke and air pollution (danger to oxygen) and on the other hand it also reduces the fertility of land and also crop production.
The central government and state governments have passed many rules to prevent the burning of straw waste. Along with this, burning of straw has also been included in the category of legal crime, but even after this, the pace of burning of straws is not stopping. In such a situation, proper disposal of rice straw waste is becoming a matter of top priority.
In such a situation, setting up a business of manufacturing products of daily use by recycling rice straw waste can be a positive initiative to start a new business, which has the potential to make the aspiring entrepreneur a successful businessman in the future. Today, there are very few people who know that garbage can also be a source of income.
Or the proper utilization of straw or to start a product manufacturing business from straw waste recycling under straw waste management (waste to wealth), it is important for the interested entrepreneur/businessman to understand the Organic Waste Management Plan in detail on priority basis.
For example, what are the components found in straw? How to collect waste straw? What materials, components, machinery and manpower are required to recycle rice straw waste? How many products can be made from rice straw? How much investment will be required to set up a straw waste recycling plant and how much profit can be made?
These are some of the questions whose answers an interested entrepreneur/businessman needs to find before starting a rice straw waste recycling business. So let’s start the discussion of a new innovative business startup emerging in the future. First of all, let’s know what straw is and what is it called?
What is Rice Straw?
After harvesting paddy, the agricultural residue such as crop roots (commonly known as stubble- Rice straw) which remains in the field is called straw. Generally, the part of any crop which remains in the field as waste after harvesting the crop is counted in the category of straw.
How to collect straw to start rice straw waste recycling?
If you do not want to invest more in collecting straw waste, then for this you first need to make the farmers aware of the importance of straw waste. For this, the primary step is to meet the farmers in the initial stages and motivate them to save straw waste.
You can offer to pay the farmer a monetary amount at a fixed rate for the straw collected by him. On one hand, the monetary payment offer will give the farmers an opportunity to earn profit from crop waste (organic corps waste), and on the other hand, you will also get your desired raw material easily.
And as farmers’ awareness regarding stubble waste increases, many farmers themselves will contact you to sell their stubble waste.
What is the value of rice straw waste?
In the current market, straw is sold at the rate of Rs. 2500 to Rs. 5000 per acre; the price of straw varies according to different paddy varieties. The price of straw of Basmati paddy is the most expensive.
Recycling business prospects and opportunities-
Today man-made waste is increasing in every area, in view of this, its disposal has become primary and mandatory, as far as waste is concerned, and there can be 02 options for disposal of any waste-
The waste should be completely destroyed (by burning or burying it in the ground), which will pollute the environment. Waste should be recycled and reused so that it does not pollute the environment.
Our common sense will choose the second option. So this means that starting a recycling business can prove to be a profitable business. Also, with changing times, there is a need to start a recycling business because if the waste is not recycled in time, then tragedy is certain on the earth we live on and we ourselves will be responsible for it.
On the other hand, if we recycle this waste on time, then this recycling business can also give us a good profit, today there are very few people who know that waste can also be a source of income.

The Process of Converting Rice Straw into Pulp-
The most basic step to recycle organic waste into paper based products is to convert organic waste such as rice straw, sugarcane bio bagasse, wood straw etc. into pulp.
Process of preparing straw pulp on small scale or manually (At small scale)-
Before making pulp, cleaning of soil etc. from waste straw is the primary step.
- To convert straw waste into pulp, first, raw straw is cut into small pieces (1 to 1.5 cm) using a straw shredder machine.
- After the straw is chopped into pieces, the straw waste is washed with clean water . This process can be done either manually or with the help of a washing machine.
- After this comes the turn to prepare straw pulp or straw pulp. To make the pulp, a deep bowl like container is required. In which 60% clean water, 30% straw waste and 10-12% caustic soda (NaOH) is needed.
- As per the quantity mentioned above, the ingredients are filled in a bowl and cooked on medium flame; it can take about 30 minutes to 60 minutes for the straw pulp to be prepared.
Process of preparing pulp on a large scale (At industrial scale)-
- On a large scale or industrial scale, the process of making pulp from straw is done by manual, semi-automatic or fully-automatic machines.
- After coming to the plant from the farm-barn, first of all the raw straw is cut into small pieces (01 to 1.5 cm) using the straw shredder machine.
- After this, the straw is washed and filtered to clean the excess/unwanted dirt (soil and dust) etc.
- After this, the cleaned straw is filled in the pulp making mill. This pulp making mill prepares the pulp/slurry of the straw. From which the desired product can be easily manufactured.
Process of Making Products from Ready Pulp-
After the straw pulp is ready, now it is time to prepare the desired products like paper, disposable utensils or plates from straw. The process of making products from pulp is done in-
Process of making products from pulp prepared by manual method (At Manual Level)-
The pulp prepared manually is taken out in a spreadable container and left for some time till it becomes lukewarm.
After this, by taking the die/mold of the desired product, the pulp is filled in the mold and with the help of strong pressure; the pulp is dehydrated and molded into the shape of the desired product. The process of making each product can take about 05 to 10 minutes.
After being shaped, the desired product is left in open air to dry for 24 to 48 hours. After drying, the finished product is ready for use.
Process of making products from pulp by machine (At industrial level)-
The pulp prepared by the pulp making mill is transported to the product making molding chamber with the help of a pulp sucker machine. This product making molding chamber has 03 stages; where the desired product is manufactured step by step.
- In the first step, the mold of the desired product is prepared from the pulp. Here, a product dye bail press machine is used to prepare the mold.
- In the second step, the prepared structure is heated, the excess water is distilled off and the structure is dried to make it solid and strong.
- In the third step, after the desired product becomes solid and strong, it is prepared by cutting and finishing. It takes only 10 to 12 minutes to complete these three steps.
After this, the finished product can be packed and sent for sale in the market.
Recycle Products Market Demand –
Since the government has banned single-use plastic, many possibilities have started emerging in the waste recycling business. Generally, before the ban on single-use plastic products, disposable utensils made of plastic were used in weddings, parties, celebrations, events and festivals.
But ever since the single-use plastic products were banned, there has been a severe shortage of these products in the market. This shortage can be compensated only by biodegradable products, because biodegradable products automatically decompose after a specified period of time and thus increase the fertility of the soil.
Since biodegradable products are mostly single use, the demand for products made by recycling organic waste is always there and will remain so in the future as well. When we evaluate all these facts from a business point of view, “organic waste recycling business” indicates very strong profits.
